Secret Admirer

Last week, Jonathan found this note in his school mailbox:
Everyone in his class denied writing it, but he is genuinely happy to think that someone loves him as much as he loves everyone else. His theory is that since everyone in his class must be telling the truth, the note is from his 6th grade buddy. I'm thinking that most 6th graders are over the backwards "y" thing.

The following day he came home puzzled that some of the girls in his class had been following him around all day. With 7 girl cousins and a sister, there is no feminine mystique. Girls are just boys with long hair. Due to his influence, Anna has become a great wrestling opponent. She can take so much roughness that we often have to remind him to be gentler with his cousins.

As parents, we look upon the secret admirer situation with amusement, but also longing for him to stay this sweet and innocent. Things are so uncomplicated for him right now! Not so with the 6th graders I hang out with on Friday afternoons. Not even so with some of the girls in his kindergarten class. Oh, the drama!
